Ryan Sheckler has been kickflipping since he was six-years-old, so it should come as no surprise that he won his first X Games gold medal in Park at just 13. From there, Sheckler was on a whirlwind tour of success and publicity as his popularity skyrocketed.
Sheckler then expanded his reach beyond just skating in competitions by joining Plan B Skateboards, alongside Danny Way and other notable skaters. During this time, he was also the star of the MTV reality series Life of Ryan for three seasons before stopping production to put his focus back on skateboarding.
Since then, Sheckler has shed the “prodigy” and “child star” labels of his teen years and is now considered one of the most influential skateboarders of all time for how much he was able to accomplish at such a young age – paving the way for other teens to make a name for themselves on the X Games stage.
