In honor of every mathematicians favorite annual holiday, we’re serving up a hot-off-the-press recipe for some delectable CBD pumpkin pie; that’s right folks, it’s Pi Day! And while these may be two entirely different types of pi(e), fear not, for we are going to give you that fix for your nagging sweet tooth.
First things first, there are several ways to start enjoying CBD-infused foods. Much like its cannabis cousin, cannabidiol (CBD) can be combined to make infused butter. This process can be a bit tedious and time consuming, so put on your good vibes playlist and do your best Gordon Ramsay impression — just minus the idiot sandwich meme. The key to unlocking truly delicious edibles is by infusing your CBD oil in the butter very slowly and over a low heat. The idea is to completely combine the CBD and butter without actually burning the oil and evaporating all the active beneficial compounds.
A good recommended starting point is 15 mL of oil for 500 g of butter. Cut the butter into several pieces and add them to a saucepan on medium heat. Next, pour in the CBD oil along with about 1 quart of water. Set the burner on a low, simmer heat and cook for about 3-4 hours, making sure to stir every 30 minutes. Once you’ve completely combined your CBD and butter, pour into a mixing bowl and set aside for 2 hours to chill. Emphasis on chill, bro.
And now you’ve got CBD butter to use as a morning spread on toast or to help make some delicious baked goods. Emphasis on baked, bro.
All corny bread puns aside — seriously, we’ll stop now — you can also make CBD-infused oils if butter isn’t the right spread for your biscuit. CBD infuses well with a range of oils such as coconut and olive oil. Just like with butter, the steps to infuse oil with CBD follow the exact same process; low and slow is how you know. Now you can use your healthy hemp-infused CBD oil to sauté vegetables or use as a simple non-stick solution.

CBD Pumpkin Pie
9-inch pie crust
1 cup sugar
½ tsp salt
1 ½ tsp freshly ground cinnamon
½ tsp freshly ground ginger
½ tsp cloves
1 ½ cups of purée pumpkin
1 ½ cups of evaporated CBD-infused milk
2 eggs beaten
Preheat oven to 450°F.
Line 9-inch pie pan with pastry dough, glaze crust with one egg yolk. Place another pie pan tightly on top so the crust will bake evenly.
Bake for 15 minutes, remove top pie pan and bake another 5-10 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before filling.
Reduce heat to 300°F and allow oven to cool completely so CBD is not effected.
Combine remaining ingredients and beat until blended.
Pour into pan and bake for an additional 55 minutes or until filing is warm.
Slice it up amongst family and friends and let the CBD relief warmly fill your insides.
Although this particular recipe calls for evaporated CBD-infused milk, feel free to explore with some different dishes. Just insert your CBD-infused butter or oil into your favorite recipes and BAM! Thanks, Emeril.
Remember, you’re not an idiot sandwich.
And baking with CBD is as easy as, well, pi.
