Did you know that more pets go missing over the July 4th holiday than at any other single time of the year?
According to the American Humane Association, July 5 is the busiest day of the year at animal shelters. Pets panic at the sound of fireworks and desperately escape into the night, ending up lost, injured, or even worse.
Here are some tips to help keep your pets safe during the July 4th festivities:
- Safeguard your pet ahead of time by making sure they are microchipped, your contact info is up to date, and they have current ID tags, which will increase their chances of being returned safely.
- Leave your pets at home, away from crowds and noise, and put them in a place they feel safe with favorite toys with the radio or TV turned on to muffle loud noises.
- Keep them away from alcohol and common foods that can make them sick or festive favorites like glow sticks, fireworks, matches, lighter fluid, citronella, and bug repellent that can be toxic and dangerous to pets.
- Offer them a little extra soothing support with our veterinarian-formulated Paw CBD Calming products!
