How to Use Your cbdMD PM Products

Using CBD PM formulas works a little differently from other sleeping aids you may have tried before. It takes a bit of thought to plan out the amounts you will need and when to take them.

First, decide which you prefer: the CBD PM tinctures or the CBD PM softgels. The tinctures you will have to measure out each night and take with a dropper, while the softgels you will take in capsule form with a glass of water.

Secondly, you will choose the strength (concentration of CBD) based on two things – your weight/size, and your doctor’s recommendation. Make your best judgment and know that for the first few weeks, you will stay on the starter serving size you select and then increase if needed after your body has had a few weeks to adjust.

To take the CBD PM tinctures, follow these steps:


  1. Choose the strength of the tincture based on your size, weight, and recommendation by your doctor. Begin with the recommended serving size on the packaging. This gives your body a few weeks to adjust to the product, as it does build up and work better over time. After a few weeks to a month, you can adjust your serving size, if needed. If at any time you feel the need to decrease, you may do so. Keep your serving sizes consistent and make very small adjustments. (Measurements on the dropper make this easy.)

  2. Give the bottle a gentle shake to make sure oils and contents are well blended.

  3. Insert the dropper into the bottle, squeeze the plunger, and release, allowing the dropper to suck up the product.

  4. Read the markings on the dropper and squeeze out extra until you have the desired amount in the dropper.

  5. Squeeze the contents underneath your tongue without touching any part of the dropper to your mouth or lips.

  6. Hold the tincture under your tongue for 30 seconds, then swallow.

  7. Remember to take your tinctures 30 minutes to an hour before bedtime and at roughly the same time each evening for best results.


Note: The amount of melatonin per bottle, based on 30 servings per bottle, would give you approximately 5 mg of melatonin per serving. This amount will change if you take more or less of the standard serving size. If you use the higher strength of CBD PM, you’ll get the bonus of more CBD, but the melatonin amounts are the same.

For some people, easy peasy is the best option. The softgels can be taken with a glass of water 30 minutes to an hour before bedtime.

Start with one of the capsules, and if after a month you feel you need more, you can move to a higher strength. Each softgel contains 3 mg of melatonin and either 16.5 or 50 mg of CBD, depending on the concentration. If you have been using tinctures, you’ll need to compare the amount of CBD you have been consuming per serving size to make sure you’re still taking the amount you desire.

Can You Take CBD PM Products with Other CBD Products or Sleep Aids?

Yes – you may take cbdMD PM-products along with your regular cbdMD tinctures or other CBD products. You may note that you do not need as much of the CBD PM formula at night if you are already taking other CBD products regularly. Consider what else you are taking when you decide how much of the CBD PM to take.

Concerning sleep aids or medications – consult your doctor before combining CBD sleep products with any other sleep aids.

Other Tips for Great Sleep

CBD with melatonin works best in combination with a “good sleep plan.” When you prioritize sleep and make adjustments to your activities before bed, you can set the stage for your best sleep ever. Here are some tips for getting the sleep of your dreams.

Reduce the amount of light for the last couple of hours before bed. This will prompt your body to begin making its natural melatonin to help you get drowsy.

Avoid caffeine and alcohol in the few hours before bed. While alcohol can make you sleepy, it actually can interfere with the quality of sleep. Caffeine will keep your mind and body in an alert state, which can interfere with your ability to fall asleep and stay asleep.

Do relaxing activities that do not further stimulate your mind and body for those crucial wind-down hours before sleeping. Take a warm (not overly hot) bath, read a book, and limit social activities that stimulate you. Prepare a cup of chamomile tea. Choose foods that help to calm you, and don’t eat too late before you go to bed.

Keep your bedroom space for sleeping, relaxing, or sex. Other activities should be done outside the bedroom and not when you are preparing for sleep. Take your work, hobbies and crafts, projects, games, and other stimulating materials to another room so when you go to bed, you are not distracted or prompted to remain active.

Meditate, pray, or do some light yoga as a way to release the stresses of your day and relax for sleeping. You can do guided meditations with an app, or simply play some relaxing nature sounds and do light stretching or deep breathing exercises.

Remember to take your CBD for sleep products in that last half hour to an hour before bed, then get into bed and relax.
