FAQs
What Does CBD Do For Skin?
CBD supports your endocannabinoid system, a network of receptors in your nervous system that helps keep your body in balance. When applied topically, CBD connects with the endocannabinoid receptors in your skin, helping it stay calm and comfortable.
Does CBD Improve Skin?
Everyone’s reaction to CBD is a little different, but its soothing properties can support other skin care ingredients to help skin that’s dry, irritated, or generally in need of TLC. For more details, see our blog post, What Adding CBD Skin Care to Your Routine Can Do for You .
Which CBD Is Best For Skin?
When you’re looking at CBD skin care products, there are two main factors to consider: the quality of the CBD itself, and the other ingredients in the products. At cbdMD Botanicals, we use only CBD extracted from non-GMO hemp and rigorously tested, with lab results you can see on the individual product pages. The other ingredients are all clean and free of harmful chemicals, but to find out which are best for you, take our skin care quiz.
Is CBD In Skin Care Legal?
CBD is federally legal in the United States so long as it comes from hemp, which is cannabis with less than 0.3 percent THC by dry weight. All our CBD is not only hemp-derived, but formulated and tested to be THC-free.*
What Is Natural Beauty?
Natural beauty, in a skin care context, means beauty products made with ingredients drawn from nature: oils from nuts and seeds, herbal extracts, beeswax, and so on. This is in contrast to ingredients formulated in a lab, which many skin care products contain.
What Are The Benefits Of Natural Beauty?
The good thing about natural skin care products is that many of them have been used for hundreds or thousands of years, so their properties and safety profiles are well known. They’re also biodegradable, so you don’t have to worry about polluting the environment whenever you wash your face.
What Is Clean Beauty?
“Clean” refers to the way our beauty products are sourced and manufactured. We don’t use harsh chemicals like sulfates and parabens, which are common in other skin care products. Our products are also “clean” in the sense that they don’t involve animal testing, so you can use them with a clean conscience!
Why Is Clean Beauty Important?
Many of the chemicals in other skin care products actually irritate the skin. Have you ever put on an overly perfumy moisturizer and it felt a bit prickly? Used a toner that made your eyes water? Those are signs that those products are too harsh. Clean beauty products avoid those problems and are better for skin in the long run.
Are Clean Beauty Products Safe?
Because of their lack of harsh chemicals, clean beauty products are generally safer than those made by artificial means. The only complication is if you have an allergy to a specific plant, like aloe vera. If you do know that you have an allergy, be sure to read the labels carefully.
What Is A Basic Skin-Care Routine?
The two most important aspects of any skin care routine are cleansing and moisturizing. The cleansing removes impurities from the skin but can also strip out its natural oils, so moisturizing helps put back the lubrication and prevent further drying.
How Do I Start A Skin Care Routine?
If you’re not sure where to begin, take our skin care quiz to determine your skin type and needs. From there, you can choose the right daily cleansers and moisturizers for both face and body, and also a mask for less frequent use.
What’s A Good Skincare Routine?
As noted above, the basic steps are cleansing and moisturizing, but you’ll want to use different products for different areas of your body. Choose a facial cleanser for use every morning and evening; follow the cleansing with toner and/or a face oil or serum, and eye cream for moisturizing the eye area. If you need further moisturization, use our Daily Moisturizer in the morning and Night Shift cream in the evening.
For body care, see the steps outlined in the How to Add Clean Beauty to Your Skin Care Routine section above.
What Are The 7 Steps Of Skin-Care?
There are different versions of this routine floating around, but here’s what we recommend:
- Remove makeup
- Cleanse
- Use a face mask (this is not a daily thing, but two or three times a week)
- Apply toner
- Apply a face oil or serum
- Apply eye cream
- Use day or night cream to moisturize the rest of your face
That’s for facial care; body care is usually simpler, just involving cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing.
